Event: Union Picnic

A date has been set for the Annual Union Picnic.  It will be held on June 21, 2008 (A shift) at Monte Valle Park in Station 6's district.  More details to follow as the become available.  Please make arrangements for you and your family to attend this fun-filled event.

Report: State and Local Pensions Well Funded

At a time when budgets are tight, a new national study has revealed a "miracle" at work in state capitals and city halls: Fully funded pension systems. The report, conducted by the Center for State and Local Government Excellence, indicates that overall, pension systems in the U.S. are doing better than private systems, and are 90% funded.

Stop, Drop and Reel

Fishing for a good cause and a chance to win bragging rights with your fellow firefighters.

Could it get any better?

Carlsbad Firefighters Association Local 3730 is pleased to announce its Sixth annual "Stop, Drop and Reel" Charity Halibut Tournament, scheduled for June 14, 2008.

The tournament is an all-day affair, with weigh-in to be held between 3:30pm and 5:30pm at San Diego Marlin Club, 2445 Shelter Island Drive, San Diego. A barbecue is planned an a raffle will also be held with great prizes.

Entry fee is $50 and all proceeds go to the UCSD Regional Burn Center to support its Brave Heart Kids Program.

The tournament is open to all, but boat crews must have at least one active or retired firefighter. Paramedics are welcome.

Last year's winners was the San Marcos Fire Department, which hooked a 30.5 pounder on the good ship SEMPER FI.
